About the position

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. This position involves preparing the procedure room, monitoring patients, and providing both routine and emergency care. The specialist also contributes to the training of new team members and participates in quality control initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations and implantations of permanent pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators.
  • Follow radiation protection regulations for patients and staff.
  • Provide emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation as needed.
  • Perform pre and post-procedure care and monitoring for patients.
  • Orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and address their questions to ensure comfort.
  • Monitor patients' ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances during procedures, notifying physicians of any variances.
  • Operate RF/Cryo ablation systems and 3D mapping, documenting procedural details.
  • Manage and maintain images related to cardiac and peripheral cases, including stenosis testing.
  • Collect registry and quality data, preparing procedure reports as necessary.
  • Maintain sterile fields and order supplies for procedure rooms, ensuring adequate stock and equipment functionality.
  • Conduct routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment, reporting issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff and students, and perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Oversee quality control monitoring and participate in departmental governance and committees.
  • Transport patients to and from procedural areas and demonstrate excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field or completion of a US military training program equivalent to an Associate's degree, or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience.
  • Knowledge of complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation, and techniques.
  • Understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
  • Must be available for on-call response as per facility/department policy.
