About the position
The Cardiovascular Technologist at St. Mary's Medical Center is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular conditions. This role involves performing diagnostic tests, managing equipment, and supporting physicians during procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Department. The position is per diem (PRN), offering flexibility in hours and shifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform Electrocardiograms (EKGs) to measure the electrical activity of the heart and detect abnormalities.
- Assist cardiologists in cardiac catheterizations for interventional procedures to examine the heart and treat blockages.
- Support cardiologists during minimally invasive interventions such as angioplasty and stenting.
- Assist in the setup and monitoring of pacemakers and defibrillator implantations.
- Prepare patients for cardiovascular tests and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during tests and procedures, reporting any issues to the supervising physician.
- Scrub in and assist the physician directly during procedures, handling necessary equipment.
- Track the par level of all instruments and supplies for the Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) Lab.
Requirements
- ARRT-R and license as required by State, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Electrophysiology Specialist required.
- Previous experience in a Cardiovascular Lab preferred.
- Completion of a Cardiovascular technologist training program with emphasis in invasive cardiology and hemodynamic monitoring preferred.
- BCLS (AHA) required upon hire and must be maintained current.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 30 days of hire.
- Proficient computer skills.
