About the position
Under the supervision of an RN (Registered Nurse) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), the Care Companion provides close observation of patients. This role assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment, promotes a therapeutic atmosphere, and enhances the efficiency of the nursing team. The Care Companion is responsible for safe patient transport throughout the facility as directed and performs all duties in alignment with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide close observation of patients under the supervision of an RN or LPN.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Promote a therapeutic environment and support the nursing team.
- Transport patients safely throughout the facility as directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- CNA/CPCT certification or enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum.
- Current co-worker of Mercy.
Nice-to-haves
- BLS certification (optional to obtain after hire).
