About the position

The Care Consultant will provide guidance and support to individuals impacted by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. This role involves responding to disease-related questions, conducting clinical assessments, and creating action plans to address the needs of individuals and families. The consultant will implement the Alzheimer's Association's program delivery strategy to enhance outreach and support through volunteer-led programs.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) techniques for short-term telephone consultations.
  • Build rapport and engage callers using clinical techniques to assess and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Educate constituents about Alzheimer's disease and its progression.
  • Link constituents to education, support, and local community resources.
  • Document call interactions accurately, including presenting issues and action plans.
  • Handle high emotions and trauma with empathy and calmness.
  • Follow established policies and uphold client confidentiality.
  • Develop and implement a community impact plan to expand support groups and programming.
  • Recruit, train, and lead volunteers to deliver programs in designated markets.
  • Monitor volunteer impact and ensure accountability.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in social work, psychology, or counseling + 1 year experience.
  • Preferred: Masters degree in social work, psychology, or counseling with licensure (LSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC) + 2-3 years experience.
  • Ability to utilize SFBT techniques or other clinical modalities.
  • Experienced in clinical/counseling skills such as listening, assessment, and empathy.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations involving heightened emotions.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to troubleshoot technology issues.
  • Attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems and Alzheimer's disease resources.
