About the position

The Thoracic Cancer Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting patients through the oncology medical system, ensuring they receive appropriate and timely medical and supportive services. This position involves data collection, participation in tumor board processes, and providing education to patients and families regarding chemotherapy and biotherapy. The coordinator actively engages in customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients in navigating the oncology medical system as a primary point of intake.
  • Ensure patients have appropriate and timely medical and supportive services throughout their care.
  • Facilitate evidence-based, multidisciplinary approaches to cancer care.
  • Provide patient and family education on chemotherapy and biotherapy, including side effect management.
  • Participate in data collection and maintain accurate records in a timely manner.
  • Engage in tumor board processes and support physician education venues.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to navigate patients from diagnosis through treatment planning and survivorship.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in Oncology Nursing or thoracic nursing practice.
  • Current valid State of Florida or multi-state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR/BLS certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degrees in Nursing.
  • Five years of experience in Oncology Nursing or thoracic nursing practice.
  • National Certification: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
