About the position

The PRN Care Management Assistant (CMA) position at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is a temporary role focused on providing clerical support for the discharge planning and utilization review process of patients. The CMA will work closely with the Care Management Department to ensure effective communication and coordination among patients, families, and healthcare providers, facilitating smooth transitions of care for patients post-discharge.

Responsibilities

• Support the Care Management Department with clerical tasks related to discharge planning and utilization review.
• Communicate with post-acute facilities, patients, families, and UAMS team members to arrange services as ordered.
• Conduct follow-up calls with providers to ensure receipt of necessary information for patient care transitions.
• Arrange discharge appointments for patients and ensure they are included in discharge education.
• Demonstrate knowledge of payor benefits and complete required regulatory documentation for patient admissions.
• Assist the public in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality when necessary.
• Foster positive working relationships with co-workers and other departments.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED with three years of relevant experience or an Associate's Degree with one year of administrative experience.
• Experience in direct patient care, medical records, or customer service.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience with EPIC for registration and appointment scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with DME companies or post-acute care organizations.
