About the position

The Care Partner position in the Orthopaedic and Surgical unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center involves assisting with patient care and maintaining unit standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role is essential in providing support to patients undergoing various orthopedic procedures and trauma care, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for both patients and staff. The position requires working full-time night shifts, with a focus on delivering compassionate care to a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Facilitate efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
  • Serve as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
  • Support unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
  • Current enrollment in a professional nursing program and successful completion of the first semester of nursing school, or
  • Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year, or
  • Minimum of one year of previous experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/patient care technician.
