About the position

The Care Planning & Discharge Manager at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is responsible for managing and coordinating interdisciplinary treatment and discharge planning services at the Montana State Hospital. This role involves supervising staff, assigning and monitoring work, and implementing policy changes in collaboration with the Director of Social Services. The position aims to improve health, safety, and well-being for Montanans through effective public service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate interdisciplinary treatment and discharge planning services at Montana State Hospital.
  • Supervise staff and assign work responsibilities.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide guidance as needed.
  • Devise and implement policy changes in collaboration with the Director of Social Services.
  • Analyze and compose accurate clinical documentation and reports.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a social service-related field such as psychology, social work, or counseling.
  • Current Licensure in a Social Services discipline in Montana (e.g., LCSW, LCPC, LMSW, Psychologist).
  • 3 years of recent progressive experience in the Social Services field.
  • 3 years of recent experience as a manager/supervisor preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical methods and best practices within an acute psychiatric care setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mental health treatment and therapy for mental health disorders.
  • Understanding of professional, ethical, and evidence-based standards of practice for healthcare professionals.
