About the position

The Career Advisor II - Job Coach position at Equus involves leading and supporting program participants in achieving self-sufficiency through comprehensive career and vocational advising. The role focuses on maintaining a caseload, ensuring contract deliverables, and providing high-quality services while empowering individuals facing employment barriers. The advisor will also engage in staff training and mentorship, contributing to the overall success of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the achievement of contract deliverables and staff satisfaction.
  • Provide strengths-based case management and career advising support to a caseload of program participants.
  • Empower participants to achieve self-sufficiency by monitoring their progress through the program cycle.
  • Maintain a full caseload with a goal of up to 35 cases, focusing on active engagement and support.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of WORCS and EARRS for accurate documentation and quality assurance.
  • Provide and facilitate community-based referrals by maintaining updated information about area resources and employers.
  • Identify, develop, and lead engaging curriculum and workshops to support participant success.
  • Develop innovative ideas to promote participant engagement and long-term success.
  • Travel to satellite sites and outlying communities to support program participants as needed.
  • Provide on-site support to new and existing staff and participate in training and onboarding activities.
  • Act as a mentor and provide peer mentorship opportunities to team members.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to achieve individual and organizational goals.
  • Implement quarterly customer work groups to address employment barriers and maximize job readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field or 3+ years of experience in career counseling, customer service, or social services.
  • Experience as an Equus Career Advisor or Outreach Coordinator.
  • Strong computer, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and a team player.
  • Creative and goal-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to relate to and motivate individuals facing barriers to employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in workforce development services.
  • Familiarity with TANF requirements and procedures.
