About the position

The Career Advisor Trainee position at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania offers an opportunity to assist individuals in securing gainful employment. This role involves providing professional employment services and outreach work within a local workforce development area, focusing on developing and implementing plans that lead to suitable employment for job seekers and qualified employees for businesses. The position is designed to help Pennsylvanians get back to work through various assessments, counseling, and workshops.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vocational and career assessments of jobseekers to determine career objectives, interests, skills, and abilities.
• Identify suitability for and/or barriers to employment and training for jobseekers.
• Provide appropriate tools and resources for jobseekers to achieve employment goals.
• Promote PA CareerLink services to businesses, community organizations, and the public.
• Document activities and services in the Commonwealth Workforce Development System (CWDS).
• Travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Develop and conduct orientations and workshops for jobseekers.
• Plan and conduct group and individualized career counseling sessions.
• Assist jobseekers and employers with PA CareerLink Online enrollment.
• Work with employers to determine their workforce needs and address recruitment and retention concerns.

Requirements

• Four years of public contact work involving interviewing the public to obtain, provide, and evaluate information concerning employment or employability; or a bachelor's degree.
• Applicants within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree will be considered to have met the educational requirements.

Benefits
