About the position

The Career Advisor Trainee position at the Department of Labor & Industry offers an opportunity to assist Pennsylvanians in securing gainful employment. The role involves providing professional employment services and outreach work to customers within a local workforce development area, focusing on developing and implementing plans that lead to suitable employment for individuals and qualified employees for businesses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vocational and career assessments of jobseekers to determine career objectives, interests, skills, and abilities.
• Identify suitability for and/or barriers to employment and training.
• Provide appropriate tools and resources for jobseekers to achieve employment goals.
• Promote PA CareerLink services to businesses, community organizations, and the public.
• Document activities and services in the Commonwealth Workforce Development System (CWDS).
• Travel as needed for outreach and service delivery.
• Develop and conduct orientations and workshops for jobseekers.
• Plan and conduct group and individualized career counseling sessions.
• Assist jobseekers and employers with PA CareerLink Online enrollment.
• Work with employers to determine their workforce needs and address recruitment and retention concerns.

Requirements

• Four years of public contact work involving interviewing the public regarding employment or employability, or a bachelor's degree.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
