About the position

The Career and Education Coach at ACHIEVEability will play a crucial role in implementing the organization's workforce development program, WorkSmart West Philly. This position focuses on enhancing employment services and supporting community members in achieving their career goals through personalized coaching, workshops, and direct connections to job opportunities. The coach will work closely with participants to develop employment plans, provide vocational assessments, and facilitate skill-building workshops, all aimed at fostering economic empowerment in the West Philadelphia community.

Responsibilities

  • Engage participants in career planning and development through 1:1 coaching and group workshops.
  • Develop and implement participant employment plans.
  • Administer vocational assessments to assess participants' skills and needs.
  • Assist participants with job readiness and soft skill development, including resume writing and interviewing skills.
  • Motivate and follow up with participants regarding job retention and career advancement.
  • Network and build relationships with employers to provide job connections.
  • Develop a jobs database with available positions and requirements.
  • Attend and organize job fairs to identify employment opportunities for participants.
  • Provide oversight to volunteers and maintain links with professionals in complementary programs.
  • Establish partnerships with other career-focused nonprofit organizations.
  • Develop a resource guide for training and certification programs.
  • Facilitate onsite job readiness programming, including resume and cover letter development.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure integration of plans and services.
  • Maintain accurate information in participant files and databases.
  • Coordinate agency-wide tracking of workforce development efforts and meet participation benchmarks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in workforce development, human services, community organizing, sales, or related fields
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing, internet, and email
