About the position

The CTE Advisor/Recruiter at Lamar State College Orange is responsible for leading advising and recruiting efforts for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students and programs. This role involves advising students on degree requirements, developing recruiting plans, and establishing relationships with high school counselors and community partners to promote CTE programs. The position requires strong communication and project management skills to effectively coordinate events and workshops aimed at student success and job placement.

Responsibilities

  • Advise current and prospective Career and Technical Education students on degree and program requirements and campus policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a college recruiting plan, recruiting events, and recruiting material for CTE programs.
  • Provide advice and a knowledgeable source of referrals for campus support programs to students.
  • Establish close working relationships with high school counselors and workforce partners of the community; initiate, coordinate, and conduct CTE presentations to high schools and community groups.
  • Maintain close working relationships with Career Services Success Coach and internship/apprenticeship leaders in relation to students preparing for the workforce.
  • Establish close working relationships with technical program faculty in planning of career pathway events such as open house and career expo.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of campus events such as new student orientation, campus tours, career fairs, etc.
  • Coordinate the response of the college requests for information about CTE programs and degrees.
  • Plan and implement workshops geared towards job placement for our CTE students/graduates such as career development, resume building, and interview skills.
  • Assist in advising academic transfer students as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, education, communication, or related fields preferred.
  • Associate degree required.
  • 2 years of experience in higher education and/or recruiting preferred.
  • Experience in project management or event planning preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
