About the position

The Career Coach at Manatee County Charter High Schools plays a vital role in supporting students' transition from high school to postsecondary education or employment. This position focuses on career exploration, job readiness, and the dissemination of resources to assist students in their postsecondary planning. The Career Coach collaborates with various stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and community resources, to ensure that every student has a clear and achievable postsecondary plan.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with student orientation process.
  • Coordinate postsecondary readiness, preparation and transition activities.
  • Monitor students' postsecondary transition progress and document all postsecondary activity.
  • Manage the College and Career Center and its activities.
  • Network with community resources to provide experiential learning opportunities such as job shadowing and internships.
  • Assist students in developing job readiness skills and personal qualities for the job market.
  • Organize employment and postsecondary functions for students and families.
  • Assist in initiatives to meet defined enrollment and attendance goals.
  • Perform other duties aligned with company policies to achieve educational and behavioral goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Florida Teaching Certification or Valid Statement of Eligibility - School Guidance preferred or any subject area.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Two years of paid, professional experience coaching high school students in career and postsecondary options.
  • Previous experience working with low-performing and over-age youth preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of career and occupational resources, trends, and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of college entrance and admissions requirements and procedures.

  • Ability to analyze career and postsecondary assessments and provide advisement.
