About the position

The Career Coach for Campus Outreach & Peer Programs at Newcomb-Tulane College Career Services is dedicated to empowering students to transition from their academic experiences to their professional futures. This role is pivotal in managing the Peer Career Advisors and enhancing campus outreach programs, ensuring that students have access to the resources and services offered by the NTC Career Services team. The Career Coach will engage in day-to-day operations while also providing individual and group coaching to students, focusing on creating equitable access to career services. The position emphasizes the importance of peer-to-peer programming and fostering strong relationships across campus to raise awareness of the available career services among faculty, staff, and student groups. In this collaborative and innovative environment, the Career Coach will stay informed about current career and industry trends, utilizing this knowledge to support Tulane students through creative programming that opens doors to various opportunities. The role requires a commitment to excellence and a belief in the transformative power of innovation. The ideal candidate will have a background in assisting students in achieving their career goals, experience in building and leveraging relationships, and an understanding of integrating traditional and emerging career development theories into a cohesive service delivery model. The Career Coach will also be responsible for supervising a team of 6 to 8 Peer Career Advisors, leading their training, and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills in student development theory and career coaching strategies. Additionally, the role involves collecting and analyzing data related to outreach efforts and communicating outcomes to leadership and stakeholders, thereby contributing to the continuous improvement of the services provided.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the student Peer Career Advisors and campus outreach programs.
  • Coach students individually and in small groups on career and professional development.
  • Create programming that supports equity and access to Tulane Career Services.
  • Build strong relationships across campus to promote NTC Career Services programs.
  • Stay current in career and industry trends and coaching resources.
  • Supervise 6 to 8 Peer Career Advisors responsible for drop-in career coaching.
  • Lead training and continued education for Peer Career Advisors in student development theory and career coaching strategies.
  • Ensure proper data collection of outreach engagement and communicate outcomes to leadership.
  • Assist students from their early time at Tulane through their senior year in exploring career pathways.
  • Review outreach curriculum to provide timely education on career and workplace topics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 year of experience in an educational setting advising individuals on career and professional development themes or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Higher Education or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in advising, coaching or related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering relationships in a diverse environment.
  • Strategic planning and implementation skills.
  • Demonstration of leadership skills within a high-achieving team setting.
