About the position

The Career Coach (Career Services Consultant) at Indiana University's O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs is responsible for advancing students' career development through effective coaching, advising, and access to resources. This role involves one-on-one and group meetings with students to assist in major and career decision-making, job searches, and graduate school preparation. The position also includes developing partnerships with faculty and employers, designing career-related programs, and contributing to the overall mission of fostering equitable and inclusive societies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective career coaching and access to relevant information and resources for students.
  • Meet with students individually and in groups to advise on career decision-making and job searches.
  • Administer graduate student internship courses and monitor student performance.
  • Develop knowledge about skills and competencies required by industries hiring O'Neill graduate students.
  • Design and present career-related workshops and programs for graduate students.
  • Curate information relevant to graduate students, including recruiting cycles and industry trends.
  • Develop partnerships with faculty, alumni, and employers to align resources for students.
  • Consult with leadership to create and implement services that respond to trends in student preparation and hiring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in career consulting or a related field required.
  • Proficient communication skills and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and maintain a high commitment to quality.
  • Counseling skills and program development skills.
