About the position

The Career Coach position at the LSU Olinde Career Center is a full-time role dedicated to providing comprehensive career coaching to students and alumni of the E.J. Ourso College of Business. Reporting to the Manager of Student Services, the Career Coach will play a pivotal role in empowering students to explore their majors and career paths, gain relevant experience, and prepare for job searches and graduate school. This position is integral to fostering a culture of career readiness within the college, working closely with faculty and professional staff to enhance student engagement and success in their career development journey. In this role, the Career Coach will provide guidance and support throughout the career development process, which includes major and career exploration, experience building, and professional transitions. The coach will educate students through one-on-one appointments, presentations, workshops, and various resources, both print and virtual. As an embedded career liaison, the Career Coach will work to develop a culture of career readiness within the E.J. Ourso College of Business, expanding experiential learning opportunities and providing targeted resources and programming. The Career Coach will also have opportunities for leadership by promoting a culture of career readiness, tracking experiential education opportunities, and collaborating with university and employer partners. This involves building relationships with faculty and student leadership to create engaging content and resources, as well as developing unique programs that connect students with potential career paths. The successful candidate will be student-centered, innovative, and committed to high-quality work, with strong communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students, along with alumni, on holistic career development topics.
  • Educate students through one-on-one appointments, presentations, workshops, and print/virtual resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between E.J. Ourso College of Business students and the Olinde Career Center.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to embed career readiness in all levels of student engagement.
  • Build relationships with student organization leadership to facilitate career conversations.
  • Facilitate connections between employers, community partners, and College representatives.
  • Ensure high quality in programmatic outputs, including administrative tasks and overall design.
  • Participate in divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, and Family Weekend.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of one year of professional-related work experience (2 years of graduate assistantship qualifies).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, college student development, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working in a university career services office.
