About the position

The Career Coach for Internships & Applied Learning at William & Mary is a vital role within the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement. This position focuses on providing career coaching and development programs to students, particularly those interested in internships and applied learning experiences. The Career Coach will work collaboratively with a dynamic team to foster an inclusive environment that supports diverse perspectives and promotes career readiness among students.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one career coaching services to students seeking internships and applied learning experiences.
• Develop and deliver career development educational programs for students in both group and individual settings.
• Collaborate with the Director of Internships & Applied Learning to enhance career advising initiatives.
• Maintain knowledge of career development best practices and internship opportunities to effectively guide students.
• Support the university's strategic plan, Vision 2026, by promoting diversity and inclusion in career development efforts.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field, or comparable education and experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in career coaching, career development, or career advising in a college or university setting.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Demonstrated knowledge of career development best practices and experiential learning.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with career services management platforms such as Symplicity or College Central Network.
• Familiarity with Google Drive and Canva for creating educational materials.
• Prior experience in delivering programming to students related to internships and applied learning.
