About the position

The Career Coach position at the Career Tech Center is designed to provide guidance and support to high school students, facilitating their intellectual, emotional, and physical growth through career development activities. The role emphasizes promoting technical programs, assisting students with career exploration, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance students' readiness for the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Career Coach Program in local high schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote the CTE programs.
  • Provide career development guidance for high school students with emphasis on technical programs.
  • Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs.
  • Assist prospective students with career exploration activities and career assessments.
  • Assist prospective students with admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures of the college.
  • Provide guidance to students regarding career choices.
  • Conduct high school classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities.
  • Provide prospective students with information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices.
  • Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with high school students.
  • Coordinate job shadowing opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with Job Coaches, Career Technical Education personnel, and other school personnel to plan and implement work experiences for students as appropriate.
  • Serve as system representative at workforce development conferences, seminars, committee meetings or other related gatherings.
  • Manage time effectively.
  • Interpret and use data for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Communicate high learning expectations for all students.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Model high ethical standards and use sound professional judgment.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
  • Maintain and submit required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner, using technology or other means as directed.
  • Properly care for equipment and material resources of the school system.
  • Use collaboration skills to work as a productive team member.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
  • Maintain ongoing database of students and classrooms that services are offered.
  • Comply with all policies of the LEA and the State Department of Education.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Marketing, Communication, or related field from an accredited educational institution required.
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Knowledge of workplace readiness skills, Alabama College and Career Readiness Standards, and current employment trends.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including students, parents, employers, and community agencies.
  • Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
  • Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement with transition assessments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, administrators and others.
  • Ability to solve problems as a productive team member.
  • Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

Benefits

  • Salary determined according to current Limestone County Board of Education salary schedule.
  • Employment for 202 days.
