About the position

The Career Coach for Healthcare at Stony Brook University is responsible for empowering students in their career development, particularly within the healthcare sector. This role involves providing individual and group coaching, organizing career-related events, and serving as a liaison between students and academic departments. The position emphasizes a student-centered approach, focusing on inclusivity and support for a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

• Coach and prepare students individually and in groups on job/internship search strategies.
• Help students clarify career interests and compose strong personal branding and applications.
• Conduct mock interviews and critique application materials.
• Organize face-to-face and virtual programs to prepare students for the workforce.
• Provide logistical support for employer-student events such as career fairs and networking meet-ups.
• Serve as a liaison to select academic departments, faculty, and career-focused student organizations.
• Use career center management software to collect data and track placements.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to university events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
• Two years of full-time administrative experience (student experience accepted).

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
• Career or academic coaching experience within a diverse college population.
• Experience designing and presenting face-to-face and virtual content for a diverse audience.
• Experience with technology applications related to career services.
• Experience with the healthcare industry.

Benefits

• Base salary of $57,000.
• Eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
