About the position

The Career Coach in Healthcare at Stony Brook University is responsible for empowering diverse college students through career coaching, programming, and outreach. This role focuses on guiding students in their job and internship search strategies, enhancing their personal branding, and preparing them for the workforce. The position requires collaboration with academic departments and student organizations, as well as participation in professional development activities.

Responsibilities

• Coach and prepare students individually and in groups on job/internship search strategies.
• Help students clarify career interests and compose strong personal branding and applications.
• Conduct mock interviews and critique application materials.
• Organize face-to-face and virtual programs to prepare students for the workforce.
• Provide logistical support for employer-student events such as career fairs and networking meet-ups.
• Serve as a liaison to select academic departments, faculty, and career-focused student organizations.
• Use career center management software to collect data and track placements.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to campus events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
• Two years of full-time administrative experience (student experience accepted).

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
• Career or academic coaching experience within a diverse college population.
• Experience designing and presenting face-to-face and virtual content for a diverse audience.
• Experience with technology applications related to career services.
• Experience with the healthcare industry.

Benefits

• $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
• Eligible for overtime provisions of the FLSA.
