The Career Coach position at Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) is a vital role aimed at providing career counseling to middle and high school students. The Career Coach will work closely with students, both individually and in groups, to help them identify their career pathways and align them with post-secondary options. Tracking and reporting student progress through data management systems is also a key responsibility of this role. In this position, the Career Coach will administer various career interest and aptitude assessments to help students determine their occupational interests and potential career paths. They will provide tailored career coaching services, assisting youth clients in developing their individual career plans. The role involves conducting both virtual and in-person sessions for students, families, and partner staff, where the Career Coach will facilitate workshops, teach job readiness skills, and present group sessions on available services. Collaboration is a significant aspect of this role, as the Career Coach will work with AACPS staff to coordinate activities such as guest speakers, field trips to business sites, and after-school events. They will also partner with teachers and administrators to integrate career counseling into existing classes, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support in their career exploration efforts. Additionally, the Career Coach will collaborate with other agencies and community partners to develop programming that assists students in their career journeys. The Career Coach will also conduct job readiness activities and training, organizing events such as mock interviews, career fairs, and job shadowing opportunities. They will assist students in identifying work experience and internship opportunities, including apprenticeships, and participate in the development of career resources for student use. The position requires attendance at conferences, staff meetings, and AAWDC functions as assigned, with the expectation of working over the summer to support various programs.
