About the position

The Career Coach position at Kettle Run High School is designed to support high school students in defining their career aspirations and identifying opportunities for higher education or training that align with those aspirations. This role is crucial in guiding students through their educational journey, helping them to understand the various pathways available to them post-graduation. The Career Coach will work closely with students to assess their interests and skills, providing tailored advice and resources to help them make informed decisions about their futures. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. In addition to direct student engagement, the Career Coach will be responsible for conducting workshops and presentations aimed at enhancing students' understanding of career options and the educational requirements associated with them. This may involve collaborating with local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to create opportunities for students, such as internships, job shadowing, and other experiential learning activities. The role may also require the Career Coach to assist in the development and implementation of programs that promote career readiness and success among students. The Career Coach will be expected to maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress, providing regular reports to school administration and other stakeholders. This position may also involve attending evening events and other activities outside of regular school hours to engage with students and their families, ensuring that all community members are informed and involved in the career development process.

Responsibilities

  • Help high school students define their career aspirations.

Requirements

  • Experience utilizing oral and written communication skills in presentations and reports.
  • Computer technology experience with Word, Excel, and other commonly used platforms.
  • Proven academic excellence and subject matter knowledge, evidenced by training, experience, and/or an Associate's Degree.
  • Experience administering and interpreting assessments.
  • Experience conducting workshops for small groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Previous secondary school experience, preferably in a high school setting, or related professional experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in career counseling or coaching.
  • Familiarity with local educational and training resources.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.
