About the position

The Career Coach Lead Abatement position is designed to assist adult jobseekers from vulnerable populations in developing job-readiness skills and entering the Lead Abatement and Hazardous Material Removal sector. The role involves recruiting, enrolling, and coaching jobseekers, while also connecting them to training and support services. The Career Coach will work collaboratively with various partners and staff to ensure effective service delivery and track progress towards grant outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize various recruitment strategies to engage the community and enroll adult jobseekers into services and training.
  • Understand eligibility requirements and service delivery components of multiple grants, serving a caseload of participants.
  • Conduct assessments, develop Individual Employment Plans (IEPs), and provide soft skills training and career coaching.
  • Enter eligible participants into the CalJOBS data system and maintain daily service activity entries and case notes.
  • Prepare supportive services documentation for training participants within 3 days of training start date.
  • Provide monthly career coaching services and document all case notes within CalJOBS.
  • Facilitate case conferencing for participant caseload to ensure adequate service delivery and progress.
  • Provide reports on caseload services, activities, expenditures, and outcomes.
  • Research and develop soft skills training curriculum and conduct workshops.
  • Maintain and self-audit all case files and documentation, tracking progress towards outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Job Developers to ensure coordinated services and smooth transitions to employment.
  • Work with other staff and partners to provide quality services and meet grant deliverables.
  • Be flexible in work schedule to accommodate recruitment activities, including evenings and weekends.
  • Co-locate at local grant partner facilities for portions of caseload.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a minimum of four years of related experience without formal education.
  • 2-4 years of experience in career coaching, case management, or job development services.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations such as re-entry, homeless, veterans, and disabled individuals.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic proficiency in data tracking systems and tools (e.g., MIS).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage large caseloads and reporting duties.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Reliable, flexible team player with a good work ethic and ability to maintain personal boundaries.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services available to participants.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and car insurance as required by law.
  • WorkSource Center service delivery experience is highly desirable.
  • Dedicated experience in working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with CalJOBS and JobsLA is highly desirable.
