About the position

The Career Coach-Special Projects is responsible for providing services to adults and youth (ages 14-24) through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. This role focuses on assisting eligible offenders released from facilities via the Partners for Reentry Opportunities in Workforce Development (PROWD) grant program, along with managing special projects. Key responsibilities include eligibility determination, individualized assessments, employment planning, case management, and follow-up services to ensure participants achieve and maintain employment at or above the self-sufficiency wage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform post-release case management for the reentry and integration of offenders released from a correctional facility.
  • Assist with program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Coordinate activities to produce an effective reentry transitional process.
  • Provide workforce center services orientation to program participants and establish eligibility for program services.
  • Ensure all program participants are registered in WorkInTexas.com.
  • Conduct individualized job readiness assessments to identify skills, needs, and barriers to employment.
  • Determine appropriate reentry pathways based on participants' education and training levels.
  • Develop individualized employment plans to achieve pathway goals customized to participants' specific needs and barriers.
  • Provide ongoing case management for each program participant and follow-up with supportive services providers.
  • Coordinate supportive services as needed to eligible participants.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and ensure operational and contract requirements are met.
  • Monitor customer case files for eligibility documentation.
  • Assist with setting center goals and monitor performance goals, reporting to management.
  • Represent the center at meetings and participate in civic and social activities.
  • Inform and educate businesses and individuals regarding the work of the center to increase employment opportunities for clients.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor case management documentation throughout client participation in the program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of previous work experience in customer service or training.
  • Knowledge of management and office procedures with the ability to supervise professional and clerical staff.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others to achieve high productivity and morale.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with basic word processing and data entry skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with the communities being served and knowledge of local needs and resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with TWIST software system.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
