About the position
New Horizons is looking for a Pre-ETS Career Coach to assist students (ages 14-22) with disabilities to support their individual transition goals. Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) include Workplace Readiness Training, Instruction in Self-Advocacy, Job Exploration, Counseling on Postsecondary Education and Training Opportunities, and Work-Based Learning Experiences. A successful Pre-ETS Career Coach will have excellent communication skills to foster and maintain strong ties with their students, students' families, the school district, local businesses, and volunteer programs. Career Coaches facilitate Pre-ETS activities tailored to assist students in developing skills to support their employment and education goals. Career Coaches need to be self-motivated, possess strong time and task management, and harness their creativity and problem-solving skills. Pre-ETS Career Coaches make a positive difference in the life of their student(s) and the community.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with disabilities in achieving their individual transition goals.
- Facilitate Pre-ETS activities to develop skills for employment and education.
- Maintain strong communication with students, families, school districts, and local businesses.
- Provide Workplace Readiness Training and Instruction in Self-Advocacy.
- Counsel students on Postsecondary Education and Training Opportunities.
- Organize Work-Based Learning Experiences.
Requirements
- Eighteen (18) Years of Age or older
- High School Diploma required; 4 years higher education preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- Complete required training including First Aid/CPR certification
