About the position

The Career Coach for Youth Services is responsible for providing career pathway planning services to youth aged 14-24. This role focuses on individualized career coaching, mentorship, and job search assistance, aiming to help young individuals achieve their education and career goals. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders and requires a commitment to equity and inclusion in all services provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career pathway planning services to a case load of youth participants
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on program policies and youth employment laws
  • Ensure an equity focus is integral to all youth services
  • Collaborate with Michigan Works! Southwest service providers for coordinated participant services
  • Work with the Discover team and Career Connect to provide access to opportunities for participants
  • Attend community meetings and represent Kalamazoo RESA/Career Connect
  • Teach and promote 21st Century Skills to participants
  • Stay informed about trends in career development
  • Review occupational, educational, and economic information to assist participants in their career objectives
  • Maintain documentation of services provided within required timeframes
  • Complete necessary reports and submit them on time
  • Ensure services adhere to KRESA's core values and anti-bias principles
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth and young adults
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide individualized career coaching and mentorship
  • Knowledge of career development trends and resources
  • Understanding of equity and inclusion principles
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and reporting

Nice-to-haves
