About the position

Goodwill Industries of Mid-Michigan is seeking a dedicated and passionate Career Coach to join our team in Bad Axe, Michigan. This full-time position is pivotal in assisting individuals with barriers to employment, helping them transition to independence and self-sufficiency. The Career Coach will work closely with consumers who are job-ready and have been recommended by Mission Services counselors. The role involves maintaining a caseload, ensuring that each individual receives the support they need to succeed in their job search and career development. In this position, the Career Coach will be responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation and reports for stakeholders, writing daily discharge summaries for referral agencies, and collaborating with supervisors, worksite staff, and participants to ensure positive outcomes in the Mission Services program. The Career Coach will also teach participants job-related tasks during assessments, track their progress, maintain consumer contact, and provide transitional support. A key aspect of this role is to coach and promote personal growth for each individual, helping them reach quality standards in their employment journey. The Career Coach will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their career goals, contributing to the overall mission of Goodwill Industries to help people find success in the workforce. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for caseload assigned of consumers that are job ready and recommended by the Mission Services counselors.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and reports to stakeholders.
  • Write daily discharge summaries for referral agency/stakeholders for each consumer.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, worksite staff, and participants to ensure positive outcome in Mission Services program services.
  • Teach participants tasks for jobs during assessments.
  • Track progress, maintain consumer contact, and provide transitional support.
  • Coach and promote personal growth for each individual to reach quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required, with a preference toward those with an Associate's Degree.
  • Special training helpful in human relations, job development techniques, behavioral science, marketing, and communications.
  • Must have computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Industry recognized employment professional training.
  • Ability to function as a job coach for people with disabilities.
  • Ability to drive and possess auto insurance.
  • Dependable, tact, resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment.
  • Complete MDCH Direct Care Training or equivalent.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, a safe driving record, and maintain car insurance.
