About the position

The Career Coach at Eckerd Connects is responsible for guiding and supporting Career Transition Services (CTS) assignees in their job search, placement, and retention efforts. This role involves mentoring young individuals, ensuring they are prepared for the workforce, and facilitating connections with educational and employment opportunities. The Career Coach plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate records, providing workshops, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the career readiness of students.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with students preparing to exit the center and provide re-orientation on job search techniques.
  • Create and maintain a caseload of active assignee files, establishing a tickler system for caseload management.
  • Attend meetings that involve Career Transition student/process issues.
  • Visit classrooms and trade shops to familiarize students with CTS processes and employability skills.
  • Provide workshops to exiting students and assist with job fairs and career days.
  • Maintain linkages with military services and external resources, securing and posting job leads.
  • Ensure all necessary documents for job search are completed prior to student's exit.
  • Identify support services needed for independent living and make referrals to agencies.
  • Participate in the students' Career Assessment Panel.
  • Ensure timely distribution of assignee checks and inform them of payment processes.
  • Meet regularly with center staff to facilitate contact and placement information.
  • Securely store all Personally Identifiable Information and valuable items.
  • Initiate contact with former enrollee assignees prior to or soon after their exit.
  • Utilize data and CTS system for placement opportunities and track individual performance.
  • Complete appeals process and verify placements to reconcile errors in surveys.
  • Attend required staff training sessions and maintain accountability of staff and students.

Requirements

  • Experience in career coaching or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor and guide young individuals effectively.
  • Familiarity with job search techniques and employability skills.
  • Proficient in data management and record-keeping.
