About the position

The Career Navigator position is designed for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by the opioid epidemic. This role involves building professional relationships with participants to help them overcome barriers to employment, providing support in securing and maintaining jobs that offer a living wage, and contributing to workforce development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with participants to aid in eliminating challenges that hinder employment.
  • Help recruit a minimum of 100 participants to enroll in the program.
  • Work directly in approved rehabilitation centers to provide services related to removing barriers to employment.
  • Refer customers to the PA CareerLink® for post-rehabilitation services as part of their treatment plan.
  • Track participation and monitor data entry into CWDS according to activity codes and barrier identification.
  • Assist in preparing weekly project reports on participation and placement.
  • Create and maintain an environment that promotes hope and self-acceptance for customers.
  • Provide referred customers with information on recovery-friendly employers in the region.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of all customer outreach and contacts through internal tracking systems.
  • Oversee participant activities and assist with workshop schedules.
  • Provide comprehensive case management and follow-up for participants.
  • Assess work, family, and personal development needs and opportunities for participants.
  • Refer participants to appropriate community or social service agencies when needed.
  • Maintain an organized database of clients and document all contacts with clients.
  • Coordinate post-exit retention services for participants and accommodate their work schedules.
  • Document all participant contacts and activities in case notes and ensure post-placement contacts are made as required.
  • Share information with appropriate staff and/or funding agencies.
  • Maintain participant files as specified by the contractor.
  • Support other workforce development initiatives, including WIOA Title I.
  • Ensure participants follow through with planned activities as outlined in the contract with the funding agency.
  • Meet positive outcomes and goals as required by the contract.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts.
  • Demonstrated telephone, computer, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of the contract or contractor require.
  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Valid Driver's License, vehicle, and clean driving record required.
