About the position

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Career Coach to join our team in Louisville, KY. This full-time position is ideal for an energetic and self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. The Career Coach will play a crucial role in connecting Kentucky job seekers, particularly those with disabilities or other challenges, to the resources and services they need to secure and maintain long-term employment. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong character, and a commitment to helping others achieve their career goals. In this role, the Career Coach will assist in the recruitment of program participants and conduct intake interviews to assess individual needs and financial barriers. The coach will provide support in job search and placement activities, helping participants develop personalized action plans tailored to their unique barriers, needs, and goals. Additionally, the Career Coach will facilitate referrals to other agencies and resources to ensure participants have the necessary support to overcome obstacles in their job search. Goodwill's mission is to empower individuals by providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed in the workforce. The Career Coach will be instrumental in helping participants navigate challenges such as criminal backgrounds, language barriers, limited education, lack of transportation, and chronic poverty. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community while achieving personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment of program participants.
  • Complete needs assessments and conduct intake interviews with individuals to determine financial barriers.
  • Assist participants with job search/job placement activities as necessary.
  • Help internal retail participants develop and individualize action plans based on their barriers, needs, and goals.
  • Locate additional resources needed to help participants overcome barriers and make referrals to other agencies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, human relations, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of work experience in workforce development, human services, or counseling environments, such as a workforce development program or community rehabilitation agency providing services to individuals with disabilities and/or disadvantages in lieu of a college degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Code of Ethics.
