About the position

The Career Coach at SoLAcc is responsible for providing career development guidance to high school students and current students, focusing on Career & Technical Education. This role involves building partnerships with local high schools, conducting presentations, and assisting students with career exploration and assessments. The Career Coach will also develop and present workshops on employment strategies, maintain relationships with employers, and support various departmental events.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations.
• Build partnerships with local high schools for career development guidance.
• Conduct classroom presentations promoting Career & Technical programs.
• Assist students with career exploration activities and assessments.
• Provide guidance on career choices and current job market trends.
• Develop and present seminars and workshops on employment search strategies.
• Assist with planning and hosting departmental events such as career fairs.
• Build and maintain relationships with employers and community members.
• Perform administrative tasks in the testing center, including check-in/out processes.
• Monitor and proctor college-wide testing, ensuring adherence to regulations.
• Collect data to monitor progress towards department goals.
• Advertise career services and events to various stakeholders.
• Conduct presentations to train high school staff on college resources.
• Provide career and transfer advising to students and community members.
• Represent the College in local high schools to promote programs.
• Assist students in creating career plans that align with their goals.
• Assist the Director with program development and strategic planning.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience, or four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Experience working with diverse student populations or guiding individuals toward opportunities.
• Experience in public speaking or presenting information in public settings.
• Familiarity with digital platforms such as Canvas, LoLA, or Canva.

Nice-to-haves
