About the position

The Career Coach position at the American Job Center in North Riverside is focused on providing comprehensive case management services to participants, helping them achieve their employment objectives and attain self-sufficiency. The role involves developing individual employment plans, conducting training, and supporting participants through various employment and training activities while meeting performance goals set by the program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to participants.
  • Achieve performance goals for the program as set forth by the board contract.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of program legislation and local policies related to program expectations.
  • Determine eligibility and suitability for program services.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing employment and training curricula.
  • Support ongoing recruitment and intake activities for program participants.
  • Assist participants in identifying vocational goals.
  • Develop Individual Employment Plans based on assessment data and enter data into the participant database.
  • Refer customers to job search, work experience, training, or other appropriate activities based on assessments.
  • Conduct training, remediation, and ongoing assessments for participants' needs and progress.
  • Deliver training and instruction to strengthen customers' employability.
  • Provide job performance feedback to participants through designated worksite documentation.
  • Generate reports to measure progress towards recruitment and performance goals.
  • Maintain customer case management records in electronic and paper files.
  • Provide crisis intervention and referral services as necessary.
  • Expand community and family involvement in workforce center programs and services.
  • Participate in community programs and provide program presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Human Services, Business, or Education) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in human/customer service.
  • Previous experience in the employment/training field preferred.
  • Ability to establish rapport with and motivate disadvantaged participants.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills with good accuracy.
  • Computer literacy and comfort working in various internet-based systems.
  • Basic knowledge and working skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the employment/training field preferred.
