About the position

The Career Coach at Metropolitan Family Services plays a crucial role in empowering individuals and families by providing guidance and support in workforce development. This position involves outreach, assessment, and the development of individualized employment plans to help clients achieve their career goals. The Career Coach will work closely with clients to enhance their job readiness and connect them with training and employment opportunities, while also monitoring their progress and providing necessary support throughout their employment journey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach to engage targeted caseload.
  • Perform situational assessments and vocational explorations.
  • Refer 100% of clients assessed to job readiness training, external workforce partners, or direct job placement.
  • Observe and document consumers' vocational assets and limitations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Employment Plans.
  • Coordinate and communicate with referral sources, community agencies, and providers.
  • Refer clients to job readiness training and monitor their progress.
  • Ensure 90% of clients who complete job readiness training improve workforce readiness and career awareness.
  • Provide work support and referrals to clients.
  • Monitor retention of employment placements at 30, 60, 90, and 180 days.
  • Contact employers as needed to address barriers or concerns and support client advancement opportunities.
  • Work within contract, grant, and program requirements, meeting timelines and reporting requirements.
  • Utilize a team approach with other program staff in planning and implementation of services.
  • Authorize limited amounts of financial assistance to clients with supervisory approval.
  • Take responsibility for professional development and enhance skills through supervision and other opportunities.
  • Work effectively with diverse staff and service populations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and training or demonstrated experience in providing workforce development/case management services for at-risk populations.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, Business, Communications, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in workforce development/case management services for at-risk populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and goal setting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel to track economic self-sufficiency data.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Accountable for providing exceptional customer service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Workforce Development Professional Certificate (preferred or must secure within 1 year of employment).
