The transition from student to professional is integral to the success of OU graduates and to the mission of the University of Oklahoma as an institution. The Career Coach will work with students and alumni of the University concerning the discovery of career communities, seeking and securing experiential and professional opportunities, and navigating the transition from college to career. This role is crucial in assisting students in developing career readiness skills that are critical for an effective transition from college to career, and in building a foundation for life-long career development and advancement. The Career Coach will collaborate with team members to develop new programs and initiatives that support student professional development, ensuring that students are well-prepared to enter the workforce and succeed in their chosen fields. In this position, the Career Coach will assess the needs of students and help to develop and implement targeted programs and services tailored to those needs. They will provide assistance and instruction to students on resume and CV writing, cover and thank-you letter development, and introduce them to Handshake and the Career Center. The Career Coach will also coordinate strategic outreach efforts to expand the Career Center's services for specific populations of students, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to succeed. Additionally, the Career Coach will attend NACE and SoACE virtual workshops and conferences to stay abreast of industry trends, conduct workshops, presentations, and other special programs for student groups and classes, and represent the Career Center at various events by promoting its services to faculty and staff and tabling at university events. Maintaining current internal databases related to students' first destination tracking and entering and maintaining records regarding engagement and outreach to university populations will also be key responsibilities of this role. The Career Coach will perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the position.
