About the position

The Career Coach position at Youth Job Center (YJC) is focused on leading a multi-sector Career Pathways program aimed at supporting young adults aged 16-24 in achieving long-term career success. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including employers and training programs, to provide personalized career coaching, job placement, and retention support. The position is hybrid, requiring some in-office work and local travel for events and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit a caseload of young people for Career Pathways programs through partnerships with schools and community partners.
  • Attend recruitment and outreach events to connect with potential program participants.
  • Manage a caseload of young people through training and career pathways programs, providing personalized career advising and coaching.
  • Share labor market trends and guide young adults toward goal setting in alignment with their skills and interests.
  • Partner with the Employment & Training team to deliver services such as career exploration and goal setting.
  • Match program participants with employer partners for Paid Work Experiences (PWEs) and ensure appropriate tracking and follow-up.
  • Provide ongoing case management for Career Pathways clients for up to one year after job placement.
  • Work alongside YJC staff and higher education partners to refer clients to specific sector-based training programs.
  • Collaborate with employer partners on program placement and retention strategies.
  • Manage data in YJC's Salesforce based Client Management System, entering data related to client services and outcomes.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reports to ensure program outcomes are aligned with annual goals.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programming (WIOA).
  • Experience working with young adults.
  • Project Management experience required.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Well-organized, efficient, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong time management, documentation, and data entry skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) highly preferred.
