About the position

The Career Coach at the University of Florida serves as a vital resource for undergraduate students in the Warrington College of Business, providing personalized career planning, advising, and coaching. This role involves assisting students with resume critiques, mock interviews, career assessments, and job offer negotiations, while also maintaining records for assessment and reporting purposes. The Career Coach collaborates with various teams to facilitate career development programming and workshops, ensuring students are well-prepared for their professional journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one career planning, advising, and coaching assistance to undergraduate students.
  • Critique resumes and cover letters, and conduct mock interviews.
  • Assist students with career assessments and job/internship offer negotiations.
  • Maintain quantitative and qualitative records of student interactions for assessment and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Career and Peer Mentor (CAP) team to facilitate external career development programming.
  • Create and deliver career development workshops and seminars for business students.
  • Participate in special events such as career fairs and professional development events.
  • Maintain relationships with the Heavener academic advising team to enhance student engagement.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to listen attentively to students and recruiters.
  • Bachelor's Degree and two years of professional experience in business-related fields such as marketing, management, finance, or human resources.
  • Experience working inclusively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of industry relations, employment trends, and student development.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent resume, interviewing, and job search skills.
  • Proficiency with web-based resources and software such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in career counseling or corporate/campus recruiting.
  • An entrepreneurial orientation and a proven track record of taking initiative.
