About the position

The Career Coach at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School (CRIPCS) plays a vital role in guiding adult students towards employment and further education. This position focuses on providing personalized coaching, facilitating workshops, and collaborating with various departments to ensure students overcome barriers to success. The Career Coach is integral to the school's mission of empowering adult immigrants through education and career training.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and/or group coaching to assist students in their career and academic exploration.
  • Identifies barriers to learning or achieving career goals and coordinates with internal teams to ensure students can access the right support.
  • Coaches students through the job search process, including job applications and post-secondary college applications.
  • Facilitates workshops on job readiness, resume and cover letter writing, and job interviewing.
  • Develops smart plans/goal plans and resumes for each student in partnership with the student.
  • Remains current and knowledgeable in Department of Labor regulations and job market trends.
  • Collaborates with the Student Services Department to exchange relevant information on students.
  • Coordinates the post-secondary education enrollment process with the Student Services Student Success Team.
  • Maintains and updates career training and/or occupation data.
  • Provides support on initiatives and projects for students as needed.

Requirements

  • BA degree in business, human resources, social work, or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a coach, recruiter, or employment specialist.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or Amharic/English preferred).
  • Digital literacy skills with a high understanding of G-suite and program management databases.
  • Well-versed in digital research tools and diverse position-related software (Zoom, Office 365).
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to work two evenings a week and be flexible with the work schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in educational settings or with adult learners.
  • Knowledge of community resources for job placement and training.
