About the position

Goodwill Industries of Mid-Michigan is seeking a dedicated and passionate Career Coach to join our team in the Bad Axe area. Our mission is to assist individuals facing barriers to employment in their journey towards independence and self-sufficiency. As a Career Coach, you will play a crucial role in helping job-ready consumers transition into the workforce, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to achieve their career goals. This position is full-time and offers a competitive hourly wage of $15.00, along with numerous opportunities for career advancement. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of consumers who have been recommended by Mission Services counselors. You will maintain appropriate documentation and reports for stakeholders, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded. Daily discharge summaries will need to be written for each consumer, providing updates to referral agencies and stakeholders. Collaboration is key in this position; you will work closely with supervisors, worksite staff, and participants to ensure positive outcomes in the Mission Services program. Your responsibilities will also include teaching participants job-related tasks during assessments, tracking their progress, maintaining regular contact, and providing transitional support. As a coach, you will promote personal growth and help each individual reach quality standards in their job readiness. This role is vital in empowering individuals to overcome obstacles and succeed in their employment endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of job-ready consumers recommended by Mission Services counselors.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and reports for stakeholders.
  • Write daily discharge summaries for referral agencies/stakeholders for each consumer.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, worksite staff, and participants to ensure positive outcomes in Mission Services program services.
  • Teach participants job-related tasks during assessments.
  • Track progress, maintain consumer contact, and provide transitional support.
  • Coach and promote personal growth for each individual to reach quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; preference for candidates with an Associate's Degree.
  • Special training in human relations, job development techniques, behavioral science, marketing, and communications is helpful.
  • Must possess computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Industry-recognized employment professional training is preferred.
  • Ability to function as a job coach for people with disabilities.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and maintain car insurance.
  • Dependable, tactful, resourceful, and possess good judgment.
  • Complete MDCH Direct Care Training or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in job coaching for individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of behavioral science and job development techniques.
