About the position

The Career Consultant position at Career & Employment Options involves providing transition services to special needs students and adults through ACCES-VR. This part-time role focuses on job readiness, career planning, and coaching, requiring the consultant to work both in community settings and high schools. The position is fee-for-service, offering approximately 15-20 hours of work per week, with a pay range of $25 to $34 per hour based on experience and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students and adults in job readiness and career planning.
• Conduct community-based internship development and direct job coaching.
• Assist students/clients in performing effectively in community-based worksites.
• Engage with families to ensure their active participation in the employment process.
• Provide information and goal activity for CSE or ACCES/VR planning meetings.
• Assist students in their transition beyond high school using interest inventories and skill assessments.
• Create a positive environment for students/clients to achieve their career and community goals.
• Facilitate the transition and notification of graduating seniors to relevant services.
• Attend professional development trainings regarding regulatory issues and changes.
• Develop job placement opportunities, including internships and mentor programs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Vocational/Job Coaching experience required.
• Preferred: BA Level education based on experience.
• Preferred certifications include Certified Special Education Teacher, Certified School Guidance Counselor, MSW, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, MBA, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), ABA Therapist, or BCBA.
