About the position
The Career Consultant/Job Coach role at Career and Employment Options, Inc. involves providing essential transition services to special needs students and adults. The position focuses on job readiness, career planning, and community access training, requiring direct interaction with students at job sites and high schools. The role is flexible, offering both part-time and full-time opportunities, with a pay range of $21 to $36 per hour based on experience and certifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop community-based internships and provide direct job coaching and task analysis for internship work assignments.
- Enable students/clients to perform effectively in community-based worksites using self-direction and instructional formats.
- Engage with students' families to ensure their active participation in the employment process.
- Provide information and goal activity for CSE or ACCES/VR planning meetings.
- Assist students in their transition beyond high school using interest inventories and skill assessments.
- Create a positive environment and effective counseling to help students achieve their career and community goals, both in person and remotely.
- Assist in the transition and notification of graduating seniors to relevant agencies like ACCES, NYSCB, OPWDD, or OMH.
- Attend professional development trainings regarding regulatory issues and changes in processes related to the job.
- Provide necessary job development for placements into internships, job placements, World of Work Tours, and mentor programs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Vocational/Job Coaching experience required.
- Preferred: BA Level based on experience.
- Preferred but not required: Certified Special Education Teacher, Certified School Counselor, MSW, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, MBA.
- Professional Business Attire required.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required.
