About The Position

MiraCosta College is seeking an equity-minded, full-time Career Counselor for its Career Studies department. This tenure-track faculty position, starting in July 2025, focuses on providing career assessments, exploration, and counseling to students. The role involves developing curriculum for internship studies and work experience education courses, collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance experiential learning, and supporting disproportionately impacted students in their career development. The counselor will also coordinate Career Center events and represent the college at various meetings and conferences.

Requirements

• Master's degree in counseling or related field, or equivalent qualifications.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.
• Experience in career counseling and education.

Responsibilities

• Provide career assessments and counseling to students.
• Develop curriculum for internship studies and work experience education courses.
• Collaborate with instructional and counseling faculty to enhance experiential learning.
• Support disproportionately impacted students in career exploration and preparation.
• Coordinate and assist with various Career Center events.
• Represent the Career Center at district, regional, statewide, and national meetings and events.
• Lead curriculum development using culturally responsive teaching methods.
