About the position

MiraCosta College is seeking a full-time Career Counselor for the 2025 academic year. The position offers a competitive salary range based on education and experience, starting from $94,661 to $158,472. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counseling services to students, helping them navigate their educational and career paths. The role requires a commitment to supporting a diverse student population and promoting an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students regarding career development and educational planning.
• Assist students in identifying career goals and developing action plans to achieve them.
• Conduct workshops and presentations on career-related topics.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success.
• Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress.
• Stay informed about labor market trends and educational opportunities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling.
• OR a Master's degree in Education with a concentration in counseling or related fields.
• OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a valid Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license in California.
• OR equivalent qualifications.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with California Community College systems.
