About the position
The Career Counselor - Job Placement position at MassHire Springfield Career Center is focused on assisting job seekers in their job search and connecting them with training opportunities to enhance their employability. This role involves collaboration with training providers and support services to ensure job seekers receive comprehensive assistance throughout their career development journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide a broad range of services to job seekers in their job search.
- Connect existing Career Center customers to training opportunities.
- Utilize data to recruit customers.
- Meet with and assess the needs of Career Center customers, including career aspirations and current skill level.
- Assess customer fit with training programs to ensure enrollment readiness.
- Support customers by answering questions and connecting them to training partners.
- Assist customers in navigating resources and support services.
- Refer customers to support services before and after training enrollment.
- Provide post-placement support to customers.
- Develop expertise on training providers in the area.
- Record data on customer interactions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in counseling, social work, or a human services field (experience may substitute for education).
- Three or more years of experience in counseling and/or case management, with knowledge of job search and career planning.
- Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) highly desirable.
- Detail-oriented with strong customer service, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong writing, verbal, and listening skills; proven presentation skills for facilitating workshops.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work with a diverse population.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated reliability and dependability.
