About the position

The Career Development Coach at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Career Development Center. This position is focused on creating retention strategies and making initial contact with prospective students, current JCCC students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers. The coach will provide guidance on college major research, career exploration, job search strategies, and other career-related information. The role requires a proactive approach to assist students in defining their career options, developing job search skills, and constructing actionable career plans. In this full-time position, the Career Development Coach will schedule appointments with students and alumni to deliver comprehensive career coaching. This includes administering appropriate career assessment tools tailored to individual student needs, interpreting results, and developing actionable career plans. The coach will also create and facilitate various career presentations and workshops, assist students in developing personalized resumes, and conduct mock interview sessions to prepare students for the job market. Additionally, the Career Development Coach will be responsible for developing partnerships with local businesses to connect students with potential employment opportunities. Tracking students from specific majors and collecting data on internships and first career destinations will be essential for analyzing trends and providing recommendations for program modifications to enhance student success. Collaboration with team members on events will also be a key aspect of this role, ensuring that students receive a robust experience and are informed about current job market trends and emerging career fields. The position requires a high level of independence and judgment, as well as the ability to adapt to changing business needs.

Responsibilities

Requirements
