About the position

The Career Events and Marketing Coordinator at the University of San Diego is responsible for overseeing and coordinating logistics for major Career Development Center events, both physical and virtual. This role involves developing event calendars, managing budgets, and ensuring effective communication with vendors and participants. Additionally, the coordinator will plan marketing strategies, create promotional materials, manage social media accounts, and supervise interns, all while maintaining a focus on enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of the Career Development Center's initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate logistics for all major Career Development Center events, including career fairs and networking events.
  • Develop a calendar of events and manage implementation by collaborating with campus partners and external colleagues.
  • Select vendors and manage the event budget to ensure optimal event execution.
  • Streamline communication with vendors and visitors to ensure a positive experience at USD.
  • Handle all event logistics including registration, invitations, room reservations, audiovisual equipment, parking, catering, and marketing.
  • Evaluate program and event success, utilizing data to innovate and improve future events.
  • Plan marketing strategies and uphold branding guidelines for effective communication of initiatives.
  • Utilize project management systems to manage workflow for marketing requests.
  • Design and create marketing collateral to promote the department.
  • Maintain the MyPostings event page and the internal Google events calendar.
  • Manage the Career Development Center's social media accounts and create weekly newsletters.
  • Collaborate with university marketing partners for consistent messaging around career initiatives.
  • Archive Career Development Center activities through photographs and video clips.
  • Capture video interviews to share the center's story through digital media.
  • Track purchases and spending related to events and marketing under supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or a high school diploma with two additional years of work experience.
  • One year of experience in a related or similar role required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter.
  • Experience coordinating large events on a university campus.
  • Experience with event management systems and project management software.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience with email marketing tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
