About the position

The Career Events and Operations Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Madison plays a crucial role in supporting events, programming, and recruitment initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience and improving employment outcomes for undergraduate business students. This position involves collaboration with event planning staff to manage logistics for various career-related events, including career fairs and job shadow programs, while also overseeing the operations of the Career Engagement Studio. The coordinator will engage with students, alumni, and employers to facilitate career development and ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and delivers career development programming, resource materials, and/or advising to students and alumni.
  • Educates students, alumni, and other stakeholders about career development and opportunities and maintains relationships to aid in effective career planning.
  • Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students.
  • Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation.
  • Identifies and maintains a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students.
  • Participates in the campus-wide career services community, providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit.
  • Oversees daily operations of the Career Engagement Studio as well as supports program-wide events and operations to enhance the undergraduate student experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Outlook, Canva, Box, Qualtrics, and Google Drive.

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret complex policies.
  • Experience working within brand standards and writing copy for marketing.
