About the position
The Career Navigator position at Oscoda Schools is designed to support high school students in their career exploration and educational development. This role involves coordinating various activities aimed at helping students identify their career paths and ensuring they have the necessary support to succeed. The Career Navigator will utilize the Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) model to guide students through their educational and occupational journeys, acting as a mentor and liaison among students, schools, and community resources.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate education development plans for high school students.
- Facilitate career exploration activities and work-based training.
- Document individualized educational plans and outcomes for each participant.
- Input data into Jagforce and manage participant recruitment.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for students, assisting with goal setting.
- Coordinate community-based vocational experiences for students.
- Act as a liaison between students, schools, parents, and Michigan Works!.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education or related field.
- One year of experience in teaching, tutoring, counseling, or paraprofessional roles within a school system.
- Experience assisting diverse economic populations.
- Proficient computer skills, including data entry and file management.
- Ability to pass a background check.
