The Denver office of SmithGroup is looking for an Architectural Designer to join our team. In this role, you will create and develop planning and design concepts while supporting more senior planners and architects on large projects. You will prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, renderings, specifications, and design assignments under general supervision to meet project requirements. Additionally, you will relate building design concepts to building codes, zoning ordinances, and other external issues. Your responsibilities will also include consulting with manufacturers, researching and proposing materials and products, and preparing presentation drawings and graphics to assist in both internal and external presentations. Mentoring and training junior staff will be a key part of your role, as well as assisting in construction administration by responding to RFIs, preparing sketches and addendums (CCDs), and visiting construction sites to gather information and prepare punch lists.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop planning and design concepts.
  • Support senior planners and architects on large projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, renderings, specifications, and design assignments under general supervision.
  • Relate building design concepts to building codes, zoning ordinances, and other external issues.
  • Consult with manufacturers and research materials and products.
  • Prepare and create presentation drawings and graphics for internal and external presentations.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Assist in construction administration including responding to RFIs, preparing sketches and addendums (CCDs), and visiting construction sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
  • LEED AP preferred.
  • Must be eligible to take the Architectural Registration Examination within a few years.
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems and ability to engage with professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • On-the-job experience using Revit to produce construction documents.
  • High proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
