About the position

We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in the Boston office. In this role, you will provide leadership to the structural engineering team on large and complex projects, performing structural analysis, design, and documentation of buildings and site structures. You will work closely with interdisciplinary project teams, and experience with waterfront and marine structures is a plus. Your responsibilities will include developing structural designs for various materials that can withstand multiple loading conditions, including extreme scenarios such as high winds, heavy snow, and seismic events. You will create innovative planning and design concepts in collaboration with architectural design leaders, independently assess design requirements, and manage the structural and budget performance of projects. Additionally, you will revise, review, and coordinate construction documents to meet project requirements and lead quality assurance reviews of projects developed by other teams. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will also direct and manage the construction administration process, which includes site visits for observation and answering contractor questions. You will prepare presentation drawings, assist in developing proposal materials, and participate in both internal and external presentations. Mentoring and training junior staff, including Structural Engineers and interns, will also be a key part of your role. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of structural engineering team on large and complex projects.
  • Perform structural analysis, design, and documentation of buildings and site structures.
  • Develop structural designs for structures of various materials that experience multiple loading conditions.
  • Create and develop innovative planning and design concepts for projects through collaboration with architectural design leaders.
  • Independently assess design requirements, determine level of effort, and provide input on scheduling and fees.
  • Manage and monitor structural and budget performance of projects.
  • Revise, review, and coordinate construction documents to meet project requirements.
  • Lead quality assurance reviews of projects developed by other teams.
  • Direct and manage team's construction administration including site visits as required for observation.
  • Prepare presentation drawings, assist in developing proposal materials, and participate in presentations both internally and externally.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Structural Engineers, CAD/Structural techs, interns, and junior staff.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in Structural or Architectural Engineering preferred.
  • 15+ years of structural and civil engineering experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members in other disciplines, consultants, and clients.
  • A working knowledge of the design and construction process, project administration, and administration procedures.
  • Proficiency with Structural Analysis Programs and the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CAD and/or REVIT is a plus.
  • Interest in and active participation in professional societies is a plus.
